Looking Ahead – New Challenges on the Horizon
Today, Chicken Wings BUT is actively preparing for its next competition, tackling a new set of engineering and logistical challenges. To succeed, the team is working tirelessly to refine aircraft designs, improve performance, and push the boundaries of student-driven innovation. As they embark on another international competition, their passion for aerospace engineering continues to drive them forward. With dedication and teamwork, they strive to achieve even greater success on the global stage.
Beyond Europe, Chicken Wings BUT also competes in the USA. One of their key challenges is SAE Aero Design, an international competition organized by SAE International and supported by Lockheed Martin, ANSYS, and MathWorks. This event pushes student teams to design, build, and fly aircraft in one of three categories, testing their skills in aerodynamics, payload optimization, and structural efficiency. In 2023, the team participated in SAE Aero Design East (Florida, USA), where their aircraft Obelix—with a 5.5-meter wingspan and an 8kg payload—secured an impressive 7th place.
This year, they are fully focused on their next aircraft, Asterix, aiming to surpass their previous achievements and further solidify their place among the world’s best student aerospace teams.
